NIRVANA/COURTNEY LOVE Lawsuit Settled, "Greatest Hits" CD To Surface By Christmas

Courtney Love announced on the Howard Stern Show this morning that her lawsuit with the remaining members of NIRVANA has been settled and that "an album will be out by Christmas," according to Hits Daily Double. At the same time, she added her legal action against Universal Music Group, which began when she invoked the seven-year-statute to get out of her deal and was then hit for damages by the music conglomerate, was also settled "for a lot of money." Love said she would have put her own album out before the end of the year, but "it would be stupid to compete with Kurt." UMG officials offered no comment on the report. Love said the company will announce the completed deal next week.

Courtney had previously announced that NIRVANA's forthcoming "greatest hits" compilation will be simply titled Nirvana. The first greatest hits package by the trio is rumored to feature a previously unreleased track, "You Know You're Right".

Although the song's inclusion hasn't been confirmed, it's thought that the track is part of a legal settlement being worked out between former NIRVANA members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic and Love, widow of the late Kurt Cobain, who wrote and sang most of the band's material.
